Ivy Hill Little League was founded in 1998 with three teams as part of West Ward Little League. The league formally chartered 8 teams with Little League International of Williamsport, PA in 2007. The goal of this league, as it has always been, is to support the development of all children in their love for the game of baseball.
The core tenants of the program are:
1. Independence
• We are an independent baseball community where 100% of your fees are dedicated to our children’s baseball development
• We are parent inclusive and aligned to our children and our community
2. Diversity
• We believe in all children should have the ability to play baseball and develop friendships through a team
• Combining the neighborhoods of South Orange, Maplewood, Vailsburg and Ivy Hill, we will develop a stronger community that is unified in our children’s enjoyment in baseball
3. Player & Coach Development
• Develop all players, regardless of ability
• Player and coaching clinics before and during the season
• Goal of regular weekday practices with game play on weekends
4. A Field Experience that Lets Our Children Thrive
• Our beautiful fields includes one 46/60 turf field with lights, as well as access to Seton Hall’s newly renovated softball
field based on availability
• Including batting cages and pitching practice area
• Little League resources
• Parking and entrance through Seton Hall University
5. Sensible and Fun Competitive Baseball Program for our Children
• Player development doesn’t end with the recreation season
• Eligible for Little League World Series, including ESPN televised event and coverage
• Level playing field across Little League
• Tournament play to maintain focus on skill development
One of the remarkable features of Ivy Hill Little League is the solid core of volunteers serving as managers, coaches, executive board members, team moms, and fundraisers.
Most of our Coaches and Managers have extensive experience guiding player development, team management and game strategy. In addition, they practice Ivy Hill Little League's philosophy that winning is every player getting better, having fun and coming back to play again!
